Overview of 2017

Battle: Washington D.C. The X-men have been enjoying their popularity among the general populous for nearly two years, which is a disgrace to all mutant-kind considering seven years ago humans passed the Mutant Registration Act and mutant detention centers into law. These detention centers were only recently closed down in the last two years. Fortunately, the X-men are discovering that not everything good can last. Recently in a battle between the Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men, the X-men intercepted information about an impending Brotherhood attack on five major cities, including: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City, Seattle, and Washington D.C. These attacks would level the playing field, no pun intended, and usher in a new era in which mutant-kind flourished. Fortunately, the X-men arrived too late to stop the explosion and subsequent leveling of Los Angeles and Washington D.C. With the subsequent massacres at Los Angeles and Washington D.C., hundreds of thousands of human lives were lost, including government officials. Among these casualties was the President of the United States, who had never been overly pro-mutant. The new President, former Vice President, has a history of supporting anti-mutant legislation and has never been one for supporting the former President's pro-mutant diplomatic choices. While X-Men have been attempting to engage in diplomatic discussions - rather unsuccessfully - with the new President, Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants has been preparing for stage two of their war against humans. With the X-Men distracted in their "noble" efforts in sending relief and aid to the cities affected by the Brotherhood's destruction, the Brotherhood are continuing to grow stronger in numbers as their plans move forward. Magneto's Brotherhood is calling all mutants to join in its cause as mutant-kind slips from the general human populous' favor, and news media stations around the nation have begun publicizing anti-mutant headlines and propaganda. Magneto's Legion is growing, and you're either with them or against them.
